Farestart Events / Seattle, WA
As the beneficiary of a series of restaurant and wine events held in the Seattle area, Farestart raises the capital needed to carry on its foodservice industry training program.
For over 12 years FareStart has provided nutritious meals to those in need and helped homeless and disadvantaged men, women and their families create new opportunities for the future. To date, FareStart has provided over 2,250,000 meals to the Seattle community and has helped transformed over 1,500 lives through our comprehensive job training and placement program.
The FareStart adult program is an intensive training program combining over 16-weeks of hands-on food-service training with classroom instruction, individual case management and job placement services. With over 18 additional months of job retention, wage progression and other follow-up services, this program prepares homeless and disadvantaged men and women for jobs in the foodservice industry and helps them to keep those jobs.
The Youth Barista Training Program serves ages 14 to 21 with an 8-week barista and cafe skills training, as well as life and employability training.
FareStart offers a highly structured environment in which students learn and practice professional work skills and attitudes that will serve them for a lifetime. We balance compassion and support with expectations for professional behavior that meet the demands of the workplace. There are four main ingredients to the program, known as FareStart's “Recipe for Successâ€
