On July 27, a tasting of sparkling Pinot noir entitled "The Secret Life of Pinot Noir: Pinot takes a Walk on the Sparkling Side" will help launch the International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) into its third decade. Long known for its focus solely on Pinot noir, the IPNC's exploration of the grape's often-overlooked role in the wines of Champagne is a fresh look at the diversity of this well-loved varietal. Oregon winemakers are also planning a toast to IPNC 2007 Master of Ceremonies Georg Riedel, who will unveil his new Oregon Pinot Noir glass.

Ticket price for the entire event, to be held on July 27 - 29, is $795 per person and includes all seminars, two grand tastings, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on two days and the Sunday Sparkling Brunch finale. For details, contact the IPNC at 800/775-IPNC, info@ipnc.org, or www.ipnc.org.

Early Grape Festivals were held up until the late 1920's in Altus but eventually the effects of prohibition brought it to an end. Then, in 1984, when 12,000 acres in the Altus area received the Federal designation as an official viticulture area, the Altus Grape Festival was revived as an annual celebration to honor and show appreciation for the Achievements of our past and present grape growers.

Celebrating 17 Years of Wine Tasting for Wine Buyers and Consumers

Since it’s founding in 1991, Family Winemakers of California has presented an Annual Tasting. Originally, the Tasting was developed as a trade-only event; an opportunity for member-wineries and California’s wine trade to gather together and talk about the issues foremost in the minds of industry members while tasting great wine. Because FWC represented the smaller wineries the tasting was a unique opportunity to showcase the winemaking craftsmanship of vintners from across the state.
