Auctioneer Stephen Ranger, of Ritchie’s Auctioneers and Appraisers, returns to lead the live auction, encouraging wine aficionados, fervent collectors and budding oenophiles to either add to their cellars or start a collection with some truly exquisite gems. Guests can also bid quietly in the silent auction that offers a variety of unique and exciting items for everyone to enjoy including several terrific winery tours. Each winery along the trail will feature a generous tasting of one of their wines paired with a special appetizer or dessert made with their wine and prepared by a local chef. You'll also receive a small Michigan-related gift at each winery. The wineries included in this event are: Burgdorf Winery, Cherry Creek Cellars (Parma & Cement City), Lone Oak Vineyard Estate, Pentamere Winery, Sandhill Crane Vineyards, St. Julian Winery (Parma & Dundee), and Uncle John's Fruit House Winery.

The Pittsburgh Wine Festival has announced plans for a spectacular line up of events for the fifth installment of the week-long festival April 22-28, 2007. The Wine Festival, which has been a sold out event every year, is presented by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) and Comcast.
The Wine Festival commences Saturday evening, April 21, 2007 with a magnificent opening dinner at The Carlton Restaurant. During the week there will be informative seminars on wine and food, including the return of Marnie Old, as well as wine dinners in restaurants around town that will pair internationally recognized winemakers with innovative cuisine by local chefs. Private Home Dinners lead up to the signature VIP and Grand Tasting event at Heinz Field.
Wine Camp is a 3 night, 4 day adventure in Long Island's Wine Country. A vacation and life experience.

The Friends of the Malden Public Library, in conjunction with Bob McQueen of M&M Liquors of Malden, will hold their 5th Annual Wine Tasting on Friday, April 27th, from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm at the Malden Public Library, 36 Salem Street, Malden. Sample an incredible array of wines from countries such as Australia, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Chile, and the United States in the Wilfred J. Carr Gallery while enjoying hors d'oeuvres from area restaurants and piano music played by Ed Meradith in the Ryder Gallery. Nonalcoholic drinks will also be available. Wine orders will be taken by representatives of M&M Liquors, with 10 percent of all sales that evening donated to the library.
Tickets are $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and are available at the Malden Public Library Information Desk (781-324-0218) and M&M Liquors (781-322-0033). The event is handicapped accessible.

What is the Golden Nose Award? ~
The Finger Lakes Region has long been a producer of award-winning wines. Both domestically and overseas, dozens of wineries win prestigious awards every single year. However it has been over twenty years since a competition has been held specifically between Finger Lakes wineries only. But rather than bringing in a batch of professional tasters to adjudicate which wines are best, we are opting to invite you, the consumers, to judge. After all, what percentage of bottles of wine are sold to wine professionals? Very few. At the end of the day, it is your senses, your palates, and your noses that our wine must please. Thus the Golden Nose Award has been created.
While the spring/summer outdoor heat is still bearable we want to bring you another trademarked high-energy wine tasting/pool party. On Friday, May 18th starting at 7pm, the expansive lower Flamingo Pool will host the Rock 'n Roll Wine Reggae Pool Party featuring over 40 wines and, straight from Kingston, Jamaica, the authentic live Reggae sounds of Michael Black and Jah Guide Band. For those that came to our pool parties at the Flamingo last year we're moving the party downstairs where we'll have more room to spread out relax and sip on delicious hand-picked vino. The annual National Restaurant Show is the Western Hemisphere's largest single gathering of restaurant, foodservice and lodging professionals. More than 70,000 will converge on the Windy City, and this show offers the best opportunity of the year for networking and exploring new trends. I'm making my annual visit to host a seminar sure to invigorate any restaurant's beverage program. Tickets are now on sale for the biennial fundraising wine auction at the Berkshire Museum. The 2007 auction, “The Art of Wine…Past, Present, and Futures,” will take place on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 4:30 p.m. At 6:15 p.m. Auctioneer Jamie Ritchie, head of Sotheby’s Wine Department in North America, will lead the live auction of more than 40 lots of rare and fine wines, unique vacations, and exclusive dinners ranging in value from $1000 to $10,000 each. About “Passport to Sonoma Valley”
“Passport to Sonoma Valley” will take place May 19th and 20th from 11:00am – 4:00pm at over 40 participating Sonoma Valley wineries. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the SVVGA office and website (707-935-0803, www.sonomavallywine.com) or at participating wineries on the day of the event. Advanced ticket prices are $50/weekend, $45/day and $10/designated driver. Tickets purchased at the event are $60/weekend and $55/day. On the day of the event, ticket holders needing to check in and receive their commemorative wine glass, as well as non ticket holders wishing to purchase tickets can do so at one of three designated locations: Viansa Winery at the southern entrance to the valley, St. Francis Winery to the north or Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery in the town of Sonoma.
