Are you ready to Swing into Spring? Yes, it is the dead of Winter (such as it is in Southern California), but the 2007 Wine Extraordinaire is right around the corner. Mark your calendar for this upcoming showcase of boutique wineries (those producing 35,000 cases or less per year), incredible culinary delights from local restaurants, great deals on wine-related items, a raffle, and a silent auction with incredible prizes, and live entertainment. Start Spring off right with an afternoon to remember! The 2007 Wine Extraordinaire: Swing into Spring will be held on Sunday, April 29, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Hilton Anaheim.

  • Event specifics/URL

The Wine Extraordinaire is an event that furthers our mission of educating the public on wine. We bring in over 100 small wineries that might not otherwise be presented together at one event. You will find some of your old favorites from California and some new labels. New wineries open every year and use our event to showcase their wines to consumers. You may even discover some wineries from around the world.

This event is one of the greatest deals around. Tickets are $50 for members, $60 for non-members, and a $5 (per ticket) discount is given for groups of 10 or more. After April 27, all tickets will be $65. We also welcome designated drivers for the incredible price of $25, presale and at-the-door. Please note: the Hilton Anaheim offers a special room rate to OCWS members. Contact the Hilton Anaheim for details.

In addition to fabulous wines, the event presents food from local restaurants. Your price of admission includes a souvenir Riedel wine glass for tasting, and unlimited wine and food tastes. Don’t forget your wallet, though. You can find some great deals on wine-related items such as glasses, clothing, jewelry, artwork, and more. The event’s raffle and silent auction always have some great prizes and also help raise additional funds for the OCWS Scholarship Program. Each year, we fund scholarships at six California colleges and universities to benefit many students who are studying wine and food-related fields.

The Wine Extraordinaire is a major event that requires over 125 volunteers. We welcome the assistance of OCWS volunteers and offer them a $25 rebate for their time and effort. Please consider donating your time to help us put on another great event. Rules for volunteering are as follows:

All volunteers must pay for their ticket to the event in advance before their volunteer request will be processed. Please do not discount your ticket price when purchasing your ticket. Rebates will be sent to volunteers after the event in May.

All shifts are filled in the order they are received at the office. Each sign-up is date-stamped when it is received. The good shifts fill up fast, so sign up early! All volunteer shifts are 2 hours in length and the refund for working the shift is $25.

No volunteer will be scheduled to work more than half the event.

All shifts are designed to assist the event committee with pre-event setup, event activities, and/or post-event clean-up.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2007 Wine Extraordinaire: Swing into Spring. It is an event you won’t soon forget!
