The Chalone Appellation covers a viticultural area in the mountain range to the east of the agriculturally rich Salinas Valley (Pinnacles National Monument vicinity) and is home to more than a dozen wineries.

April - Pinnacles Wine Festival

The area was initially brought to the map of important viticultural areas through the famed wines of Chalone Vineyard and the work of winemaker Richard Graff. By 2006 the area was home to thirteen wineries, including Featured Chalone Appellation wineries including: A Donkey & Goat Winery; A-Frame Vineyard; Chalone Vineyard; Copain; Crushpad; Gavilan Estate; Graff Family Vineyards; Harrington; Loring Wine Company; Michaud Vineyard; Roessler Cellars; Tantara Winery; and, Testarossa Vineyards.

The winery association sponsors both an annual Pinnacles Passport Weekend and an annual Pinnacles Wine Festival. Chalone Vineyard also hosts events (http://www.chalonevineyard.com).
